We provide opportunities for people with physical disabilities to access outdoor recreation.

British Columbia Mobility Opportunities Society (BCMOS) was formed in Vancouver, BC in 1988.

BCMOS makes outdoor recreation accessible to empower and inspire people with physical disabilities to re-imagine what is possible. Being in nature is highly valuable to the quality of life and challenges perceptions of our capabilities. Each summer, we offer guided hikes through the Lower Mainland and adaptive paddling in the heart of Vancouver. The centerpiece of our hiking program is the TrailRider, our own custom access-all-areas wheelchair. With one wheel and “sherpas” back and front, it can tackle any terrain.

BCMOS Summer Programs Are Open — And We’re Almost There

Since 1988, the British Columbia Mobility Opportunities Society (BCMOS) has provided inclusive outdoor recreation for people with physical disabilities — offering adaptive hiking, paddling, and cycling programs that build connection, confidence, and joy.

This year, an unexpected funding cut put our summer programs at risk. But thanks to the incredible generosity shown through our GoFundMe campaign, our CanadaHelps page, and some recent additional funding, we’ve been able to bring Hiking and Cycling programs back to full capacity.

Now, we need your help to do the same for Paddling and Kayaking.

We’ve adjusted our fundraising goal to reflect our current needs:
We need to raise $15,000 to support our paddling staff and keep our kayaking program running through the end of summer.

We’re deeply grateful for the support we’ve received so far.
Thank you to everyone in the BCMOS community for standing with us — your generosity makes a real difference.
